Flight compensation services compared

Two different products exist for a disrupted flight. A claim-management company takes over your claim — it writes to the airline, argues with it, and if necessary goes to court — and keeps a share of what it recovers. Horvera checks your rights for free and, if you want, prepares the paperwork for a fixed price; you send it, and the airline pays you directly. Neither is wrong. They suit different passengers, and the difference is mostly how much you want to delegate and how much of the compensation you want to keep.

How the two models work

A percentage model is "no win, no fee": you pay nothing upfront, and the company deducts its share — typically 30–35% including VAT, and around 50% if lawyers are involved — from the compensation before paying you the rest. It handles the correspondence, and it decides with you whether to settle or sue. A fixed-price model does not pursue the airline at all: you receive a letter, the evidence list, the official submission channel and the escalation route, and you send the claim yourself. If the airline refuses, the free escalation routes — the enforcement body and, where the airline is a member, an ADR scheme — remain open to you at no cost.

Which one is for you

Choose a claim company if you do not want any contact with the airline, if your claim has already been refused and you want lawyers to take it on without paying them upfront, or if the case is complex — several passengers on separate bookings, a foreign airline, an unclear cause.

Choose Horvera if you want to know where you stand before doing anything, if you are comfortable sending a letter and following it up, and if you would rather keep the whole of a €250–€600 compensation than give away a third of it. A straightforward delay or cancellation on an EU, UK or Swiss route is usually that kind of case.

Where these figures come from

Every percentage on this page was read from the provider's own published price list on the date shown, and is quoted with the provider's wording. Nothing is scraped automatically; nothing is estimated. Fees quoted "plus VAT" are shown before VAT because the applicable rate depends on your country. If a figure is out of date, tell us and we will re-verify it.
