Condor Flugdienst GmbH is licensed in Germany, so Regulation 261/2004 applies to all Condor departures from the EU/EEA and all Condor flights into the EU from outside — including from Cancún, Punta Cana, Seattle and Cape Town, where €600 is the amount. Frankfurt–Palma pays €250; Frankfurt–Hurghada and Düsseldorf–Fuerteventura pay €400. The Schlichtungsstelle Reise & Verkehr (formerly söp) offers free conciliation.

Was ist mit Ihrem Flug passiert?

Which Condor entity flew you

Condor operates its whole network under one German operating licence from Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and other German airports. Occasional wet-leased aircraft from other European carriers do not change your rights: the claim is against Condor as the contracting carrier that operated the flight in its own name.

How to claim from Condor: the EU261 complaint form

Condor’s own channel is its EU261 complaint form (“Beschwerdeformular EU261”, under Hilfe & Kontakt → Entschädigungsanspruch on condor.com) for a cancellation, a delay of more than three hours or overbooking. Condor asks for the flight details and the passenger names exactly as on the original booking confirmation. In a group booking you may claim only for passengers you are entitled to represent; for anyone else, attach Condor’s signed power-of-attorney form (Vollmachtserklärung). Condor then tells you whether it accepts the claim.

What to put in it: the booking code, every passenger, the flight number and date, the scheduled and actual arrival time (the time the doors opened), the amount per passenger under Article 7 and the bank account for payment. Keep a screenshot or the confirmation e-mail of what you sent — its date starts the two-month clock for conciliation. A first refusal that cites “extraordinary circumstances” without detail deserves a reply asking for the precise cause and the measures taken.

What Condor typically argues

  • Late inbound aircraft on long-haul rotations — a delay leaving the Caribbean arrives in Frankfurt with the same aircraft; compensable unless the original cause was extraordinary.
  • Weather at the destination — hurricanes and tropical storms can be extraordinary, but only for the flight they actually affected.
  • ATC and airport restrictions — extraordinary only if shown for your flight.
  • Technical problems — not extraordinary (Wallentin-Hermann, van der Lans).

Escalation

  • Schlichtungsstelle Reise & Verkehr e.V. (formerly söp; Fasanenstraße 81, Berlin) is the conciliation body Condor names on its own website. It is free for passengers and takes claims from €10 to €5,000 once you have contacted Condor and either had no answer within two months or disagree with its answer — not while a court has the case. Its proposal binds neither side unless both accept it. The full German route — conciliation, the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt and the Amtsgericht — is on the Germany page.
  • Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) is the German enforcement body.
  • Flights departing another EU country: that country’s enforcement body. Court: the Amtsgericht at the departure or arrival airport. Limitation in Germany: three years from the end of the year of the flight.

Typical amounts

Frankfurt–Palma, Munich–Palma and the Mediterranean network are under 1,500 km (€250). Frankfurt–Hurghada, Düsseldorf–Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands pay €400. Frankfurt to Cancún, Punta Cana, Seattle, Toronto, Cape Town or Mauritius pays €600 (€300 if re-routed to arrive under 4 hours late).

Can I claim compensation from Condor?

Yes, if your Condor flight arrived three hours or more late, was cancelled with less than 14 days' notice, or you were denied boarding against your will — and the airline cannot prove an extraordinary circumstance. EU261 applies because of the airline's licence and where the flight departed.

Conditions
  • Arrival at the final destination three hours or more after the scheduled time (delay).
  • Cancellation announced less than 14 days before departure, and no re-routing inside the legal time windows.
  • Confirmed booking, on-time check-in and boarding refused against your will.
  • The airline cannot prove an extraordinary circumstance it could not have avoided with all reasonable measures.

How much compensation does Condor pay?

On the example routes for Condor the fixed amount is 250 to 600 EUR per passenger, set by distance, regardless of the ticket price.

Conditions
  • Up to 1,500 km · 1,500–3,500 km · over 3,500 km; intra-EU flights over 3,500 km take the middle amount.
  • Over 3,500 km the airline may halve the amount if the arrival delay was under four hours.
  • Per passenger, for every passenger on the booking.

Which law applies to a Condor flight?

Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 (EU261): Condor is an EU/EEA-licensed carrier, so it applies to every flight departing the EU/EEA and to its flights into the EU/EEA from outside.

Conditions
  • Any flight departing the regime's territory is covered whichever airline operates it.
  • A flight into the territory from outside is covered only when a licensed carrier of that regime (or the EU) operates it.

How long do I have to claim against Condor?

For flights departing DE, a court claim is likely time-barred after 36 months (§§ 195, 199 BGB (three years from the end of the year in which the flight took place)). Other departure countries have their own limits; the airline's own claim form has no deadline of its own.

Conditions
  • The country whose enforcement body is competent — normally the departure country — sets the limit.
  • Limitation is national law (CJEU C-139/11); escalation steps do not stop the clock.

Where do I send a claim to Condor?

Through the claim channel of Condor: https://www.condor.com/de-de/informationen-services/hilfe-kontakt/entschaedigungsanspruch/. Claim from the operating carrier, in writing, and keep proof of sending.

Conditions
  • Claim from the airline that operated the flight (on the boarding pass), not necessarily the one that sold the ticket.
  • In writing, with the booking reference, flight number, date and the passengers' names; keep proof of sending.

What if Condor refuses to pay?

Condor is a member of Schlichtungsstelle Reise & Verkehr (formerly söp), whose decisions are not binding on the airline. Refer the case there after a refusal or once the waiting period has passed; the enforcement body and the courts remain available.

Conditions
  • The body accepts the case 60 days after the claim was sent without a substantive answer, or after a final refusal.
  • The national enforcement body of the departure country can examine the airline's compliance.
  • A court claim remains available within the national time limit, as a last resort.

What if Condor says the delay was due to weather?

Weather can be an extraordinary circumstance — but only on the facts. Condor must prove the conditions were incompatible with operating this flight, that they affected this flight and not just the airport in general, and that no reasonable measure could have avoided the delay. A generic reference to weather does not discharge that burden.

Conditions
  • The burden of proof is on the airline (Art. 5(3)).
  • The weather must have affected this flight, not just the airport in general; other flights that operated are evidence.
  • The airline must also show what it did to avoid the disruption — spare aircraft, crew, re-routing.
  • A technical fault, by contrast, is inherent in normal operations and not extraordinary.

Häufige Fragen

My Condor flight from Cancún to Frankfurt was delayed. Is it covered?

Yes. Condor is an EU carrier, so its flights arriving in the EU from outside are covered. A 3-hour delay at your final destination pays €600 unless Condor proves extraordinary circumstances.

Is the Schlichtungsstelle Reise & Verkehr binding on Condor?

The conciliation body (formerly söp) issues a conciliation proposal that both sides can accept; Condor participates and generally follows the outcome. The Amtsgericht small-claims route remains open within the three-year German limitation period.

How long do I have to claim against Condor?

Three years from the end of the year in which the flight took place, under German law (§§ 195, 199 BGB). Send the claim early anyway to fix the dates.

Where is Condor's EU261 complaint form?

On condor.com under Hilfe & Kontakt → Entschädigungsanspruch ("Beschwerdeformular EU261"). Enter the flight and the names exactly as on the original booking confirmation; for passengers you do not represent, attach Condor's signed power of attorney.
