Jet2.com Limited is licensed in the UK, so UK261 applies to every Jet2 flight departing a UK airport and to every Jet2 flight arriving in the UK from Europe; the return leg from an EU airport is also covered by EU261 as a departure from the EU. Jet2 flies leisure routes: Manchester–Alicante and Leeds–Palma pay £350; Manchester–Tenerife pays £350; London–Palma pays £220. Jet2 belongs to neither UK ADR scheme, so a refused claim goes to the CAA's PACT team or the county court.

Les passagers Jet2.com peuvent-ils réclamer une indemnisation ?

Oui.

Which Jet2 entity flew you

All Jet2 flights are operated by Jet2.com Limited under a single UK operating licence from its bases at Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Stansted, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, East Midlands, Bristol, Liverpool and, more recently, Luton and Bournemouth. There are no group carriers to worry about.

How to claim from Jet2

Jet2 takes compensation claims through its customer contact form on jet2.com (flight delays and cancellations → compensation). You need the booking reference and lead passenger surname; claim for every passenger on the booking and quote the flight number, date and arrival delay. Jet2 pays by bank transfer. If you booked a Jet2holidays package, the flight compensation claim is still against Jet2.com as the operating carrier; the package organiser’s separate obligations (Package Travel Regulations 2018) cover the holiday itself.

What Jet2 typically argues

  • ATC and airport restrictions — frequent in summer over France, Spain and the Greek islands, and at Manchester; extraordinary only if shown for your flight.
  • Late inbound aircraft — Jet2 aircraft fly out-and-back rotations to the Mediterranean; an outbound delay carries into the return. Compensable unless the root cause was extraordinary.
  • Weather — must have prevented your flight specifically.
  • Technical problems — not extraordinary (Wallentin-Hermann, applied by UK courts).

Escalation

  • No ADR scheme — Jet2 belongs to neither AviationADR nor CEDR (CAA list, 2026). After Jet2’s final response or 8 weeks of silence, refer the case to the CAA’s Passenger Advice and Complaints Team (PACT), which reviews it but cannot bind Jet2; the county court is the binding route.
  • Return flights departing an EU airport: the enforcement body of that country (AESA in Spain, the Hellenic CAA in Greece, ENAC in Italy) is an alternative, since EU261 also applies to the departure from the EU.
  • Court: the small-claims track in England and Wales (or the simple procedure in Scotland). Limitation: six years (five in Scotland).

Typical amounts

Manchester–Alicante, Manchester–Málaga, Leeds–Palma, Stansted–Faro, Edinburgh–Alicante, Manchester–Tenerife and Birmingham–Tenerife are between 1,500 and 3,500 km (£350). Stansted or Luton to Palma is under 1,500 km (£220). Turkey and Cyprus from Manchester or Leeds sit just under the 3,500 km line (£350); Cyprus from Edinburgh and the Egypt routes (Manchester or Birmingham to Hurghada) cross it, and pay £520.

Can I claim compensation from Jet2.com?

Yes, if your Jet2.com flight arrived three hours or more late, was cancelled with less than 14 days' notice, or you were denied boarding against your will — and the airline cannot prove an extraordinary circumstance. UK261 applies because of the airline's licence and where the flight departed.

Conditions
  • Arrival at the final destination three hours or more after the scheduled time (delay).
  • Cancellation announced less than 14 days before departure, and no re-routing inside the legal time windows.
  • Confirmed booking, on-time check-in and boarding refused against your will.
  • The airline cannot prove an extraordinary circumstance it could not have avoided with all reasonable measures.

How much compensation does Jet2.com pay?

On the example routes for Jet2.com the fixed amount is 350 to 350 GBP per passenger, set by distance, regardless of the ticket price.

Conditions
  • Up to 1,500 km · 1,500–3,500 km · over 3,500 km; intra-EU flights over 3,500 km take the middle amount.
  • Over 3,500 km the airline may halve the amount if the arrival delay was under four hours.
  • Per passenger, for every passenger on the booking.

Which law applies to a Jet2.com flight?

UK261 — Regulation 261/2004 as retained in UK law: Jet2.com is a UK-licensed carrier, so it applies to every flight departing the UK and to its flights into the UK. EU261 applies instead to its flights departing the EU.

Conditions
  • Any flight departing the regime's territory is covered whichever airline operates it.
  • A flight into the territory from outside is covered only when a licensed carrier of that regime (or the EU) operates it.

How long do I have to claim against Jet2.com?

For flights departing GB, a court claim is likely time-barred after 72 months (Limitation Act 1980, s. 5 (England and Wales; six years). Scotland: five years under the Prescription and Limitation (Scotland) Act 1973.). Other departure countries have their own limits; the airline's own claim form has no deadline of its own.

Conditions
  • The country whose enforcement body is competent — normally the departure country — sets the limit.
  • Limitation is national law (CJEU C-139/11); escalation steps do not stop the clock.

Where do I send a claim to Jet2.com?

Through the claim channel of Jet2.com: https://www.jet2.com/en/faqs. Claim from the operating carrier, in writing, and keep proof of sending.

Conditions
  • Claim from the airline that operated the flight (on the boarding pass), not necessarily the one that sold the ticket.
  • In writing, with the booking reference, flight number, date and the passengers' names; keep proof of sending.

What if Jet2.com refuses to pay?

Refer the case to CAA Passenger Advice and Complaints Team (PACT), the scheme open to any airline in the airline's home country, after a refusal or once the waiting period has passed; the enforcement body of the departure country and the courts remain available.

Conditions
  • The body accepts the case 56 days after the claim was sent without a substantive answer, or after a final refusal.
  • The national enforcement body of the departure country can examine the airline's compliance.
  • A court claim remains available within the national time limit, as a last resort.

What if Jet2.com says the delay was due to weather?

Weather can be an extraordinary circumstance — but only on the facts. Jet2.com must prove the conditions were incompatible with operating this flight, that they affected this flight and not just the airport in general, and that no reasonable measure could have avoided the delay. A generic reference to weather does not discharge that burden.

Conditions
  • The burden of proof is on the airline (Art. 5(3)).
  • The weather must have affected this flight, not just the airport in general; other flights that operated are evidence.
  • The airline must also show what it did to avoid the disruption — spare aircraft, crew, re-routing.
  • A technical fault, by contrast, is inherent in normal operations and not extraordinary.

Questions fréquentes

Is Jet2 a member of an ADR scheme?

No — as of the CAA's 2026 list Jet2 belongs to neither AviationADR nor CEDR. After Jet2's final response, or after 8 weeks without one, you can ask the CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team to review the case (it cannot bind Jet2), or issue a county-court claim within six years — a judgment binds Jet2.

My Jet2 flight home from Alicante was delayed. Do I claim under UK261 or EU261?

Either applies: EU261 because the flight departed an EU airport, UK261 because Jet2 is a UK carrier arriving in the UK. You claim once, from Jet2; the amount is £350 or €400 for a route of that length.

I booked a Jet2holidays package. Does that change my flight compensation?

No. Compensation for the delayed or cancelled flight is a UK261 claim against Jet2.com as operating carrier. The package organiser's separate obligations concern the holiday as a whole.
